Capitalindex CFD Broker Review

Launched in 2014, is a fairly new brokerage, yet it still managed to build up a proper reputation in only 4 years. Traders feedback regarding the operation is very genuine and more importantly: positive. People do complain about certain problems, but they never fail to point it out that they see as a legitimate trading destination.

The issues complained about are sudden spread-spikes during major economic events (such as the NFP), long withdrawal times and massive withdrawal fees. Instead of the claimed 15 days for instance, withdrawals are more likely to take a whole month. Some traders do not consider their spreads competitive. Even on major currency pairs, the spread is around 3 pips, which is indeed on the steep side.

The brokerage specializes in Forex, CFDs, Financial Spread Betting and Spread Trading. Covering a wide range of tradable instruments, the broker has a branch operating out of the UK and another based in Cyprus.

The company behind the UK side of the business is Capital Index UK Limited. It is licensed by the FCA (License no. 709693) and it is a member of the FSCS (Financial Services Compensation Scheme), which means that it can offer its clients certain – very reassuring – guarantees.

The EU-facing side of the business is based in Cyprus, and it is licensed by CySEC. This operation is fully MiFID-compliant and as such, it can theoretically peddle its services all through the EEA.

Beyond proper regulation and a good reputation though, why would you want to make your primary trading destination?

The broker provides access to some rather intriguing trading avenues, such as spread betting and spread trading, it features great trading platforms and no dealing desk execution, which is supposed to be transparent and slippage-free.

Through Capital Index, traders can trade in an institutional framework, in a high-tech environment. The broker also features a superb educational package, aimed at making it as easy as possible for traders to grasp the basics of the activity and to eventually become successful.

Account Types

Capital Index offers a total of 3 real-money account types, one of them being an Islamic trading account, which is obviously only accessible to those of the Islamic faith. All three accounts feature variable spreads, and none of them charge any commission.

The Advanced Account is the entry-level option. Featuring variable spreads from 1.2 pips, it requires a minimum deposit of GBP 100. This account allows spread betting and spread trading (at least for UK residents) and the maximum available leverage on it is 1:200. Hedging is allowed.

The PRO Account is the one aimed at serious users. The minimum required deposit for this one is GBP 5,000, which is not all that much, yet it is a large enough investment to restrict this option to those who are indeed looking to accomplish something significant. The spreads are variable on this account too and they start from 0.9 pips, which is rather sweet indeed. The maximum available leverage is 1:200.

The Islamic Account features variable spreads too. Its minimum required deposit is $100, and the maximum available leverage is 1:200. This one is obviously a Sharia-compliant account, so all specific conditions apply to it.

In addition to all the above, a free Demo account is also available.

Trading Platform/Software

The sole trading platform available at is MT4 – and given its features and capabilities, it does indeed suffice. MT4 can be downloaded directly from the broker’s website, free of charge, and it is available in 4 different versions: for Android, iOS, Mac and Windows.

MT4 needs no introduction to experienced traders: it comes with scores of preinstalled technical indicators and drawing tools and it lets traders run EAs to automate their successful strategies.

Deposit Options

The deposit options supported by the broker are a fairly standard bunch. Credit- and debit cards are accepted, as well as bank wires. The Intercash Prepaid MasterCard is a recently added withdrawal option, which lets users access their money instantly.

The range of supported markets is rather standard as well. The broker offers access to Forex, Stock Indices, Commodities, Metals and Bonds. Apparently, no cryptocurrency CFDs are supported for the time being.

Customer Support

The main customer support email is [email protected] A handful of country-specific phone numbers are also available, as well as live chat.

Everything accounted for, and the user feedback taken into consideration as well, it is safe to say that is a very secure destination for your funds.

Final Thoughts

People seem to like Capital Index, even though some of the spreads featured by the brokerage are rather steep. Their trading platform is solid, and their regulatory profile is satisfactory as well.
